Planned prescribed burn in Boden
The Swedish Forest Agency will begin a prescribed ecological burn at Sundsnäs, on the northern side of the Lule River, northwest of Storsand, during the afternoon of Thursday, 16 July. The burn may need to continue on Friday, 17 July, meaning that work may also take place then. The public is advised to exercise caution and avoid the area while the work is underway.
The prescribed burn will be carried out under controlled conditions. It covers approximately four hectares of sandy pine forest, and the Swedish Forest Agency has commissioned European Fire Technology AB (EFT) to carry out the work.
The burn management team is in continuous contact with the municipal rescue services. There is therefore no need for the public to contact SOS Alarm, provided they are certain that the smell of smoke is coming from the prescribed burn.
The burn itself is expected to last for one day. Afterward, monitoring of the site may continue for up to three weeks.
