Public authority announcement due to high water flows in Boden Municipality
The high water flows in Boden pose serious risks to the public. The Fire and Rescue Service warns people to stay away from waterways and areas that are currently flooded or have recently been flooded, and to respect all cordons and closures.
Be aware that waterways and areas where the water would normally appear calm may now contain powerful currents. Even shallow water can be strong enough to knock a person over or sweep away children, adults and animals.
We therefore urge you to:
- Do not swim in rivers, streams or other waterways.
- Stay away from fast-flowing water and flooded areas.
- Keep children under close supervision and away from the water.
- Respect cordons and road closures.
- Be aware that roads, paths and ground may have been undermined and could collapse without warning.
Do not take unnecessary risks. Conditions can change quickly, and the force of the water is often greater than it appears.

Temporary ban on entering several bodies of water
The County Administrative Board has issued a temporary ban covering the lakes Buddbyträsket, Bodträsket, Svartbyträsket and the rivers Bodån and Ljusån, as well as waterways originating from these waters.
The ban applies from 26 to 31 August inclusive. During this period, you must not enter or go out onto the affected waters.
The ban does not apply to rescue operations, essential public services, residents of Killingholmen or people assisting them.
