Fees and charges for inspections and controls

Here is how fees are calculated and example processing times for 2025. The fee depends on time spent and the applicable hourly rate.

How the fee is calculated

The municipality charges fees for inspections, notifications and supervision within environmental and health protection.You pay for the time we spend processing your case. The cost is hourly rate × processing time.

Processing time also includes supervision such as preparation, contacts, consultation, travel, inspections, audits, sampling and other checks. Billing is per started half hour. Evenings, nights and weekends are billed at 1.5 times the hourly rate.

Food control – examples of checks

All items below are billed at the food control hourly rate.

  • On-site inspections, planned or unannounced, including checks of premises and equipment.
  • Measurements, for example temperature checks.
  • Document review and audits of routines and records (self-monitoring/HACCP).
  • Sampling of food or surfaces.
  • Follow-up controls after deficiencies (re-inspections).

Payment and exemptions

  • No fee is charged for unfounded complaints or processing caused by appeals.
  • The Environment and Building Committee may reduce or waive the fee in special cases.
  • Pay within the time stated in the decision or on the invoice.
