Fees for alcohol serving permits

Here are the fees and how they are calculated for alcohol serving permits in Boden. Pay the application fee before processing starts.

Pay the application fee

Pay the application fee to Boden Municipality, bank giro 600-7181. Write the applicant’s name and “Serving permit”. The fee must be paid before processing starts. The application fee is not refunded if the application is refused.

Hourly fee and processing time examples

The hourly fee is 1,237 Swedish kronor for 2025. The cost is the number of hours multiplied by the hourly fee.

Cases charged by the hourly fee

  • New permanent serving permit: 10 hours
  • Change of ownership for a permanent serving permit: 10 hours
  • Extended serving permit (scope): 3.5 hours
  • Extended serving hours: 2 hours
  • Temporary permit to the general public or for tasting, one day: 5 hours
  • Temporary permit to the general public for more than one day, added fee per extra day. The total may not exceed the cost of a permanent permit: 0.5 hour
  • Temporary permit to private functions, one day: 1 hour
  • Temporary permit to private functions, two to eight occasions per calendar year: 1.5 hours
  • Application to change the circle of persons with significant influence: 2.5 hours

Fixed-fee items

  • Knowledge test, up to three sittings per person: 500 SEK per sitting
  • Application for a shared serving area: 6,500 SEK
  • Notification of serving premises when catering to private functions: 350 SEK
  • Notification of tasting: 350 SEK
  • Notification of spicing a spirit drink: 350 SEK

Annual supervision fee

Holders of permanent serving permits pay one fixed and one variable supervision fee. The fixed fee equals one hour per year. It is 1,183 SEK for 2024 and 1,237 SEK for 2025. The variable fee depends on annual turnover of alcoholic beverages. You pay the fixed fee plus the variable fee.

Restaurant report and invoicing

The reporting period is the first of January to the thirty-first of December. Submit the restaurant report no later than the first of March the following year. The supervision fee is invoiced in the spring after the period reported. If the report is missing after the first of March a reminder fee of 500 SEK is charged. If it is still missing after the first of April another 500 SEK is charged. If the report has not been received by the last day of April the highest variable supervision fee is charged according to the classes above.

Important information

Payment must be made to the Environment and Building Committee within the time stated in the decision or on the invoice. For permit cases, the fee must be paid before processing starts. In special cases the committee may reduce or waive the fee, considering the scope of the activity and the need for supervision.
