Guidelines, payment and changes
Billing across the year
The fee is billed twelve months per year. For new placements and terminations, the date controls billing. During transfers, the fee is billed without interruption.
Maximum fee at start and adjustment
The maximum fee applies when the place starts. When income information has been submitted, the fee is adjusted according to the household’s total income.
Certificates that may be requested
The municipality may request employment and study certificates, income information, and certificates from the unemployment insurance fund, the Swedish Tax Agency, the Social Insurance Agency, and the Public Employment Service.
Duty to report changes
Guardians and partners must report changes to family circumstances, income, and attendance time. If an income inquiry is not submitted, the highest fee is charged. Retroactive adjustments are charged or refunded if information was incorrect. The new fee applies from the date stated in the decision.
On-time payment and unpaid fees
If the fee is not paid on time, a collection charge is added according to the Swedish ordinance from 1981, number 1057, on compensation for debt-collection costs. If payment is missing, the place is terminated with one month’s notice. A new place is not granted if there is an unpaid debt for preschool fees.
Placement, attendance time and rules
Who can get a place
A place is offered when guardians work at least fifty percent, study at least fifty percent, are on parental leave fifteen hours per week, or are job seeking fifteen hours per week with the option to extend.
Flexible attendance with work
To receive more than fifteen hours of attendance due to work, show an employment certificate to the staff at the child’s preschool. Inform the preschool of attendance before arrival; short notice is allowed and reported day by day.
