Why the accident insurance exists

The accident insurance is extra protection arranged by the municipality to provide security if an accident occurs. It is intended to cover costs that may arise if you or your child is injured at school, in preschool, during leisure time or in certain municipal activities.

The insurance compensates, among other things, for healthcare costs, travel, rehabilitation and certain consequences of injury. It applies both during school time and leisure time for children and young people, and during activity hours for other groups. The insurance is free for those who are covered.

How to file a claim

Contact the insurer

As a guardian you must report the claim to Svedea yourself. If your child has other accident insurance, you must also report there. You are entitled to compensation from both insurers.

  • Telephone: 0771-160 190
  • Email: skadorforetag@svedea.se
  • Post: Svedea AB, Skador företag, Box 3489, 103 69 Stockholm

Document the injury

  • Seek care from a doctor or dentist affiliated with the national insurance system.
  • Save receipts, certificates and documents.
  • If taxi is needed, a doctor must issue a certificate. The journeys must be approved by Svedea in advance.
