Chimney sweeping
Chimney sweeping means that flammable deposits are removed from fireplaces and smoke ducts. This reduces the risk of chimney fires.
Fire safety inspection
During a fire safety inspection, the system is checked to make sure it is safe to use and that the installation works as intended.
Responsibility
The municipality is responsible for ensuring that chimney sweeping and fire safety inspections are carried out at the set intervals.
Property owner’s responsibility
Access
As a property owner, you must make sure that chimney sweepers and inspectors have access to the fireplace and smoke ducts.
Sweeping on your own
It is possible to apply to sweep the chimney yourself or hire another professional. In that case, you need a permit from the municipality.
Costs
Chimney sweeping and fire safety inspections are financed through fees. The costs are decided by the municipality.
