What does the ban mean?

It is forbidden to use fireworks without a permit from the police in central Boden, Erikslund and Fagernäs.
Exceptions apply on New Year’s Eve, Easter Eve and Walpurgis Night, until 03:00 the following day.

Rules for fireworks

Age

You must be at least 18 years old to buy, use or give fireworks to someone else.

Caution

Anyone using fireworks is responsible for making sure that no person or property is harmed. The police may require a permit if there are risks.

Outside the restricted area

National rules apply, including those issued by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency.

If you break the rules

Anyone using fireworks against the ban can be fined.

Why does this rule exist?

Every year around 300 people in Sweden are injured so seriously by fireworks that they need emergency care.

Fireworks can also cause problems for pets, sensitive individuals and increase the risk of fires. The municipality therefore introduced the rule after requests from residents.
