Regulations for health and environment
To protect human health and the environment, local regulations exist in Boden Municipality. They complement the Environmental Code and other national rules.

Rules for Everyday Life and the Environment
Sewage and toilets
A permit or notification is required for certain sewage systems. Special rules apply for dry toilets and latrine composters.
Animal husbandry
Within detailed development plan areas, a permit is required to keep certain animals, such as horses, sheep, or pigs.
Idling of vehicles
It is prohibited to let a car engine idle for more than one minute, with certain exceptions.
Spreading of manure
The spreading of manure near certain lakes is prohibited. Rules also apply to manure storage within detailed development plan areas.
Protection of Water, Energy, and Burning
Protection of water
Storage of substances such as oil, road salt, and solvents requires notification in certain areas. Rules also apply near surface water sources.
Heat pumps
All heat pumps that draw energy from soil, water, or bedrock must be reported to the municipality.
Burning
Only clean fuels may be burned. It is forbidden to burn waste, plastic, and pressure-treated wood.
Exemptions
The municipality may in some cases grant exemptions from the regulations, provided there are no risks to health or the environment.
