The waste regulations describe how waste must be handled in Boden municipality. They apply to both households and businesses and aim to protect health and the environment.

Your responsibilities as a resident
Sorting
Waste must be sorted according to the municipal system. Packaging, newspapers, food waste, hazardous waste, and bulky waste must be kept separate.
Waste collection
Household waste must be placed in bins or bags at the location decided by the municipality. The bins must be accessible and not overfilled.
Hazardous waste
Hazardous waste such as chemicals, paint, and batteries must be taken to special collection points. It must not be mixed with household waste.
Temporary suspension of collection
If a property is not in use, you can apply to the municipality for a temporary suspension of waste collection.
The municipality’s responsibility and fees
Municipal duties
The municipality is responsible for collecting household waste and ensuring it is treated or recycled in a safe way.
Fees
You pay fees according to the municipal waste tariff. These fees finance collection, treatment, and recycling.
Control and supervision
The municipality has the right to check that the waste regulations are being followed and can decide on measures if the rules are not complied with.
