Flower box as a speed bump

Apply for permit
To place flower boxes as traffic calming measures, you must apply for a permit from the Department of Community Planning. Apply through the municipality’s e-service Ansökan blomlåda (open only from 1 April to 31 May).
- The permit is valid from 31 May to 1 October.
- An approved permit is valid for three years.
- The application must be submitted no later than 31 May.
- The municipality’s traffic unit decides if the street is suitable for flower boxes and agrees on the placement together with you.
Requirements for a permit
The street
- Must be a local street without bus traffic.
- There must be a clear line of sight of at least 50 metres from each side of the flower boxes.
- The boxes may not be placed closer than 20 metres from an intersection.
Contact person
- The contact person is responsible for the application and contact with the municipality.
- The contact person must live close to the flower boxes.
- The closest neighbours must agree to the placement of the flower boxes.
Building and maintaining the boxes
- Residents are responsible for building or buying the boxes according to the municipality’s design.
- Reflective material is provided by the municipality and must be attached to the boxes.
- The flower boxes must be planted and kept in good condition.
