Public space and permits
Examples of public spaces are streets, sidewalks, squares, and parks. If you want to use a public space for something other than its intended purpose, you must have a permit from the Police. The municipality has veto rights, which means the Police cannot grant a permit if the municipality rejects the application.
Examples of activities that require a permit
- Posters and advertising
- Scaffolding and containers
- Circus, concert, funfair, or market
- Outdoor dining areas
- Display stands or goods on sidewalks
Other permits that may be required
- Environmental and Building Committee: for construction or food sales
- Municipal alcohol licensing unit: for serving alcohol
Preliminary decision
Contact the Traffic Unit for a preliminary decision before applying.
Outdoor dining areas
Permits for outdoor dining are usually valid from April 1 to September 30. Exceptions can be made for temporary permits throughout the year.
