When is a permit required?
For transports that are heavier, longer or wider than what traffic rules normally allow, a special permit, also called an exemption, is required. A permit can be granted if there are specific reasons and if the transport can be carried out without risk to traffic safety, the road or the environment.
How to apply
An application form is available on the Swedish Transport Administration’s website about transport exemptions.
Who processes the application?
- If the transport takes place only within the municipality of Boden, you send your application to the municipality.
- If the transport passes through several municipalities, you send the application to the Swedish Transport Administration.
In some cases you may need to include a certificate of the planned route.
