All preschools in Boden
In Boden there are both municipal and independent preschools for children aged 1–5. All offer a safe, enjoyable, and learning-focused environment.
Daily life at preschool
Universal preschool from age three
From the autumn term of the year your child turns three, every child has the right to free universal preschool: 525 hours per year (about 15 hours per week during the school year). The principal decides how the hours are distributed across the week.
Attendance and schedules
Your child’s attendance is based on the working hours, study hours, and travel time of the parent or guardian. Schedules must be planned in advance (four weeks) and supported by work or study verification. Without verification, attendance is limited to 15 hours per week.
If the schedule changes
Submit a new schedule whenever your circumstances change during the year.
Proof of work or study
Both parents or guardians must provide proof of work or study within two weeks of the municipality’s request. Attach a signed working-time or study-time schedule.
If proof is temporarily missing
Until proof is provided, the child is placed on an “actively seeking work” schedule of 15 hours per week.
Children of job-seeking or parental-leave guardians
Children have the right to 15 hours per week. When work or studies begin, hours can be extended once proof is submitted. If studies exceed 15 hours per week during parental leave, submit a new application with documentation.
Closure days
Preschools have six planning days per school year when they are closed. If you cannot arrange care, a place is offered at another preschool. Fees are unchanged.
If the place is not used
A place that is not used for two months may be terminated by the municipality.
Preschools run by other providers
There are independent preschools and family day care run by non-municipal providers, such as cooperatives. Apply directly to the provider you choose, their rules applies.
