About the preschool
Björkdungen Preschool sits in central Boden and has been renovated indoors and outdoors. The building is organised around a central restaurant with a production kitchen and salad bar. On each side are cloakrooms leading to two shared squares: Björkens torg for children aged 3–5 and Dungens torg for children aged 1–3, each surrounded by three departments.
There are studios for art, a woodwork room and a water-play room. Furniture on wheels lets staff adapt rooms to children’s interests and needs. The outdoor area is used for teaching and learning. Safety and acoustics are carefully designed, with calm colours throughout.
Meals and food
Meals are cooked on site by the preschool’s kitchen and served daily in the restaurant, with a fresh salad bar.
Pedagogy and approach
Teaching focuses on mathematics, language and communication, and social skills. Staff use sign-supported communication and visual supports to help every child express themselves and understand others. Learning prepares children for school and lifelong learning.
Safety and cooperation
Security, care and children’s health are the foundation. The preschool works for each child’s best interests and wellbeing. Cooperation with guardians is close and continuous in daily contact and through regular updates via digital channels such as a blog and email.
