About the preschool

Skogså Independent Preschool is located about ten kilometres from central Boden, close to forests and wildlife. The catchment is mainly the northern villages, but families come from across the municipality. There are thirty-two preschool places. Children at municipal schools travel by bus to their school and back to the on-site after-school centre.

Year-round outdoor facilities include snowmobile and ski tracks, an ice rink and a sledding hill in winter, and a lit exercise trail, football pitch and a playground with climbing equipment and a slide in summer. Indoors, large flexible spaces can be adapted to the children’s interests, and a sports hall is available for movement, yoga, dance and rhythm.

Meals and food

Meals are prepared by the preschool’s own cook. Children eat in the dining hall and help set the tables. Whenever possible, supplies are purchased from local suppliers in Boden, including food, cleaning materials and toys.

Pedagogy and approach

The preschool has a mixed-age group of one- to five-year-olds. On some days, the group is split to strengthen children’s influence regardless of age. Daily outdoor time and local activities spark play, learning and creativity. Flexible learning environments and the sports hall support movement and many modes of expression. Every child is encouraged to express themselves and be themselves.

Safety and cooperation

The focus is for every child to feel secure, joyful and included in everyday life. The preschool works to build community, empathy and consideration in the group. Clear routines and close relationships with familiar adults create a safe environment where children can try, be challenged and succeed.

CONTACT

Since independent preschools are not part of municipal operations, please contact the preschool directly for more information and to apply for a place.
