About the school

Tankeborgen is a member-owned, non-profit association; any surplus is reinvested. The school has about 30 pupils (F–6) and 14 staff, with a high adult-to-pupil ratio (around 1:6) and access to required specialist expertise.
Small teaching groups support calm study and goal achievement. Facilities include bright classrooms, a gym and a dining hall. The school yard has its own ice rink, garden beds and large play areas, and the forest is close by.

Food and meals

Meals are cooked on site in our own school kitchen. Home-cooked food with Swedish and locally sourced ingredients is served daily and is appreciated by pupils, staff and visitors.

Wellbeing and partnership

Everyone—pupils and adults—knows each other and works together to build safety, wellbeing and study focus. Joint openings/closings, breaks and outings are part of everyday life; older pupils often help younger ones. Parents take part in work evenings once per term, strengthening community and the school environment. Cooperation also includes parent meetings, student-led conferences, and council work.

Pedagogy and approach

Teaching follows the Svartlå model, adapted to the national curriculum. It features small home groups, cross-age groupings and thematic work.
The profile nature, culture and entrepreneurship runs through the whole school:

  • Nature: forest and outdoor settings are used for learning and physical activity.
  • Culture: singing, music and theatre recur; the culture school visits weekly so pupils can try instruments; annual culture grants fund author/artist/dance visits.
  • Entrepreneurship: pupils run a school café in cross-age teams, handling planning, sales, marketing and entertainment for villagers and families.
The year ends with a joint school trip for pupils, staff and parents.

Pre-primary class

Pre-primary and school work together under the same model. The youngest pupils take part in school and after-school activities, creating a safe, natural transition to Year 1.

After-school programme (Fritidshem)

The after-school programme follows Lgr22 and works within language and communication, creativity, nature and society, play, physical activity and outdoor life. It has one mixed-age unit for F–6.

  • Two staff are always on duty.
  • Activities combine free and guided play, indoors and outdoors.
