About the school
Stureskolan is a lower secondary school for grades 7–9 with around 360 students. The school is divided into four teams. Each team has a special education teacher who also leads the team.
The school has a preparatory class for newly arrived students and a small unit for students with autism. In the same building, there is also an adapted elementary school and the International School of Boden (ISB).
Students can use the multi-arena, football field, gym, school library, and a student-run café managed by ninth-grade students.
wellbeing and cooperation
The student health team includes the principal, assistant principals, special education teachers, counselor, school nurse, school psychologist, and study and career guidance counselor. The team helps students and works to prevent problems.
The school also has a safety team with two safety coordinators and several safety resources. They work to build good relationships and a safe environment during breaks, in the hallways, and in the student café. The school follows its annual plan to prevent, investigate, and resolve incidents. The plan is based on clear routines, rules, and regular follow-up.
Pedagogy and approach
The teaching follows official curriculum guidelines and focuses on building good relationships between teachers and students. We use both books and digital learning materials.
The school focuses on increasing student attendance and improving reading comprehension. Teaching is continuously developed through our systematic quality work within BUUS (Boden develops teaching systematically).
