About the school
Torpgärdsskolan is a two-stream Primary school (F–6) with around 310 pupils. The catchment area includes Bodsvedjan, Norrbyarna, Norra Svartbyn, Södra Svartbyn and Torpgärdan.
There are three after-school units — Galaxen, Kometen and Stjärnan — and a large school yard with forest and grass areas. The close proximity to nature enables outdoor education, cross-country skiing and skating.
Wellbeing and partnership
The school works so that every pupil feels safe and succeeds. The vision is that knowledge is cool. Staff collaboration and collegial learning are used to continuously develop the school based on current research.
Pedagogy and approach
School profile: Health and lifestyle. The “Torpis i rörelse” initiative encourages brain breaks, movement challenges and physical activity during lessons and breaks to strengthen learning and social development.
Pre-primary class
The pre-primary year bridges preschool and school and follows Lgr22 (Part 3), focusing on language and communication, creation, mathematical reasoning, nature, technology and society, as well as physical activity and outdoor life. Digital tools are used in teaching, and PE is led by a PE teacher.
After-school programme
Three units: Kometen and Galaxen for Years F–2, and Stjärnan for Years 3–6. The programme is integrated with the school day and offers both free play and planned activities indoors and outdoors.
