Who can get a place and when it is open

Pupils in preschool class, primary school and adapted primary and lower secondary school can get a place.

Out-of-school care is available at every primary school for children from age six through Year 6. It is open before and after the school day and during school holidays.

Application and placement

When your child is offered a place, a placement offer is sent via the IST online service or by letter. You must actively accept the place in IST or by reply email.

After acceptance, you manage the placement in IST: schedules, details and termination. When the placement starts, your child is first placed in the “Sluss” intake group. Staff then place your child in the right group.

Note: Starting preschool class does not automatically give a place in out-of-school care. Apply separately.

Fagernäs skola F-6

Opening hours and closed days

Out-of-school care is open on all weekdays that are not public holidays. It is closed on Midsummer’s Eve, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. It is open on Epiphany Eve and Walpurgis Eve.

Summer out-of-school care

A limited number of out-of-school centres are open in summer. Children with a place are entitled to at least four consecutive weeks away from group activities each calendar year.

Children are entitled to summer out-of-school care if guardians are in paid work during the period. Exceptions may be made for special reasons.

Frequently asked questions

When my child starts preschool class

Induction to out-of-school care starts no earlier than Monday of week 32. The preschool place ends automatically on Friday of week 31 if not ended earlier.

The notice period is two months. In the e-service you state the final placement date, meaning the last day at preschool including the notice period.

I am studying. May my child use out-of-school care?

Yes. If you study at least fifty percent, your child may use out-of-school care.

How often must I submit income information?

Whenever your income changes, or at least once per year.

What happens if I do not submit income information?

The highest fee under the tariff will be charged if income information is missing when you accept the place.

We are moving to another municipal school. Do we need to end the current place?

No. Apply for a change in the IST service. The current placement ends when you accept the new place. For a change to another provider or municipality, you must end the current place.

Are we charged during the summer?

Yes. Fees are charged twelve months per year.

I have questions about my invoice. Who do I contact?

My income varies each month. What should I do?

Submit your current monthly income each month to be charged the correct fee.

May my child attend when I am on parental leave?

No. When guardians are on parental leave with a younger sibling, older children are not entitled to out-of-school care.

What happens to the placement if I become unemployed?

You end the place yourself. A two-month notice period applies. If you soon start working again and need a place, email support.ubf@boden.se to reinstate the placement.

If two months pass before you start working again, you need to submit a new application.

Shared placement

With shared placement, each guardian is fully responsible for their own placement: start and end dates, income information, family circumstances and reported schedule.

Termination

End the place via the e-service. The termination is registered the same day you submit it.
The notice period is two months. Your child may attend throughout the notice period, and the fee is charged for the same period.

State the final attendance day when you end the place.

If your child changes school within Boden Municipality and needs out-of-school care at the new school, there is no notice period. Apply for a new place at the new school; the old placement is replaced.
