When can you get school leave?
As a guardian or an upper secondary student of legal age, you can apply for leave using a form. The form is available here on the website, at Citizen Service, or from your class teacher.
Leave may be granted for personal matters, but not for holidays or driving practice. Visits to a doctor or dentist must always be applied for in advance.
Who decides on school leave?
The class teacher or mentor can approve up to ten days of leave per school year. Before applying, you should talk to your teachers about how you will catch up on what you miss.
If you already have a high level of absence, or risk not reaching the goals in a course, it will be more difficult to get leave approved. For longer leave, the principal decides after receiving a statement from the mentor.
