Updated:

Please note that all forms and digital applications (e-services) are currently in Swedish. Contact Citizen Service if you need help in English.

1. Who can apply?

To be eligible for support, the following applies:

  • You are between 18–67 years old.
  • You are registered as a resident in Boden Municipality.
  • You have a mental disability that makes it difficult to manage everyday life.
  • The disability has lasted for at least one year, or is expected to last at least one year.
  • You need support in several areas that have not been met and require help from multiple community services.
  • You must personally want the support, and the ombudsman works on your behalf.

2. What is a personal ombudsman?

  • An independent service, separate from other authorities and care providers.
  • The service is free of charge.
  • The ombudsman is bound by confidentiality and does not keep records.
  • Helps you toward a more independent life and supports you in your contacts with authorities, healthcare, and other actors.

3. What support can you receive?

A personal ombudsman can:

  • Guide you to the right contacts, such as healthcare, psychiatry, social services, the Public Employment Service, and the Social Insurance Agency.
  • Coordinate measures so that different authorities work together.
  • Inform you about your rights and obligations.
  • Help you create structure in your daily life.
  • Support you in formulating your needs for support, care, services, and rehabilitation.
  • Strengthen your social network.
  • Provide conversational support while you are waiting for other measures.
  • Map your situation and report systemic shortcomings in society that affect people with mental disabilities.

4. How to apply

  • Contact a personal ombudsman by phone or email.
  • You can also use Boden Municipality’s e-service.
  • Relatives or close contacts can provide your contact details to the ombudsman, who will then get in touch with you.
  • At the first meeting, you describe your needs. The ombudsman will inform you about what support is available or refer you to the appropriate services.
