1. What is cultural funding?
Cultural funding in Boden mainly consists of two forms of support: Cultural Activity Grants and Cultural Event Grants. Both aim to strengthen cultural life by providing long-term support to established cultural associations and support for individual cultural events. Cultural Event Grants can also be applied for by independent professional cultural practitioners with F- or FA tax status.
2. Cultural Activity Grants
2.1 Purpose
Annual support for cultural associations with extensive and regular activities. The grant aims to contribute to a long-term and sustainable cultural environment through co-creation, innovation, development, and collaboration.
2.2 Who can apply?
Cultural associations in Boden that continuously contribute to the municipality’s cultural life, such as event organizers, cultural heritage associations, or producer associations. The association must be registered in Föreningsportalen and have uploaded its approved annual meeting documents.
2.3 Assessment criteria
- Scope, quality, and development potential of the activities.
- Contribution to cultural heritage and innovation.
- Inclusion, diversity, and focus on children and youth.
- Collaboration with other actors.
- Long-term perspective and unique character of the activity.
- The extent to which the activity meets identified needs and contributes to diversity in the cultural offering.
Application: Via Föreningsportalen by 31 October each year.
Reporting: Must be submitted by 31 March the following year.
3. Cultural Event Grants
3.1 Purpose
Financial support for associations and independent professional cultural practitioners that want to carry out individual cultural events contributing to a diverse cultural offering in Boden.
3.2 Who can apply?
Non-profit associations and independent professional cultural practitioners with F- or FA tax status who are registered in Föreningsportalen.
External associations may be granted support when co-organizing with a local association.
3.3 Examples of events
Concerts, theatre performances, art exhibitions, literature events, dance performances. The event must be public and open to the general audience.
3.4 Assessment criteria
- Cultural quality and public benefit
- Innovation and diversity
- Collaboration and inclusion.
- That the event is not part of the association’s ordinary activities
- That the event does not receive support from another municipal entity
Application: Via Föreningsportalen – at least 6 weeks before the event.
4. Steps to apply
- Register the association in Föreningsportalen (if not already done).
- Prepare documents: statutes, annual meeting documents, project or activity description, budget. A current activity plan and preliminary budget are required for Cultural Activity Grants.
- Log in to the portal and choose either Cultural Activity Grants or Cultural Event Grants.
- Complete the application and attach all required documents.
- Ensure that the association’s membership numbers are updated as of December 31.
- Submit and track the status in the portal.
5. After the application
- Decisions are communicated via Föreningsportalen and email.
- Payment is made according to the decision after approval. For Cultural Event Grants, advance payment may be approved after review.
- Reporting for Cultural Activity Grants: by 31 March the following year. Reporting for Cultural Event Grants: within 6 weeks after the event.
- Additional information may be requested by the case officer and should be submitted directly in the portal.
- If the report differs significantly from the application, repayment may be required.
- If the activity is not carried out, the grant may be reclaimed.
