1. About Lärcentrum in Boden
Lärcentrum in Boden offers adult education at both basic and upper secondary levels, as well as vocational training. There are also individual courses, examinations, and the possibility of test services. Education is free of charge and qualifies for student financial aid (CSN). Course literature is at your own expense. Classes are given either in the classroom or online, full-time or part-time depending on the course structure. Studies mainly take place at Sandenskolan in Boden, but many courses are also available digitally.
2. Course offerings
The course catalogue includes programmes at various levels: basic, upper secondary courses, course packages, examinations, and vocational training. Subject areas include mathematics, languages, natural sciences, healthcare, IT, economics, and administration. Some courses are apprenticeship-based, while others are offered fully online. You can filter the catalogue by subject, level, study format, and start date.
3. How to apply
To apply, log into the course portal with e-identification or create a temporary account.
- Select courses in the catalogue
- Add them to your course basket and rank them if necessary
- Fill in your personal details, goals, and background
- Attach documents such as transcripts or a personal letter
- Submit the application
After submitting, you will receive confirmation by email or SMS. You can follow your application under “My Page.”
4. Eligibility
You are eligible to apply if you are registered in Boden and meet at least one of the following criteria:
- You turn 20 in the calendar year the programme starts
- You are under 20 but have completed an upper secondary education
If you are registered in another municipality, your home municipality must approve the application before Boden processes it.
5. Study pace and format
Study pace is measured in credits per week:
- 100%: 20 credits per week
- 75%: 15–19 credits per week
- 50%: 10–14 credits per week
Programmes can be combined to suit your individual needs and life situation.
6. Admission
Admission notices are sent out no later than one week before the course starts, via email or SMS. If you are not admitted, or if a course is cancelled, you will receive specific notification. It is possible to apply after the deadline if places remain available.
7. Support and guidance
Study and career counsellors are available to help with course selection, eligibility assessment, applications, and individual study planning. You can book an appointment by phone, email, online, or visit Lärcentrum at Sandenskolan. Special educational support is also available, including contact with a special needs teacher.
8. Development and new programmes
Boden is developing several new higher vocational education programmes planned to start in autumn 2025. These focus on fields such as cultural production, storytelling, sustainable food, and place development. A special basic programme for process operators is also being developed in cooperation with local industries. It is planned as a 20-week course with the option of distance learning.
