Apply to School of Arts

Do you want to join School of Arts in Boden? Here’s a quick overview of what is offered, from which grade you can apply, how the application process works, and what happens afterwards.

1. What does School of arts offer?

The School of Arts in the Municipality of Boden offers free tuition in music, theatre/drama and dance, primarily during school hours at schools throughout the municipality. Some evening activities, such as orchestra, dance/drama groups and choir, may be held at Björknäsgymnasiet.

Preparatory music education is also available for children in Years 2 and 3.

2. From which grade can you apply?

  • Instruments/Music: Admission is primarily offered to students in Years 4–9. Subject to availability, some instruments may accept younger students from Year 2, including violin, cello, flute, recorder, clarinet, trumpet, trombone and French horn.
  • Drama: You can apply from Year 3. Admission takes place from Year 4 when places are available.
  • Dance: You can apply from Year 3. Admission takes place from Year 4 when places are available.
  • Singing: You can apply from Year 3. Admission takes place from Year 4 when places are available.

3. Application process in Studyalong

  1. Log in to StudyAlong External link..
  2. Select the course you wish to apply for.
  3. If you are applying for an instrument, choose both a first and second preference.
  4. Add your selection to the basket.
  5. Submit your application.

You can apply for:

  • Instruments
  • Singing
  • Dance
  • Drama
  • Choir

Once your application has been submitted, you will be placed on a waiting list for your chosen activities.

If you or your child have protected personal data, please do not apply through StudyAlong. Instead, contact the School of Arts on +46 70 204 84 98, and we will assist you.

4. After the application is submitted

  • All tuition is free of charge.
  • Subject to availability, instruments can be rented for a small fee.
  • Changes of course can be made in consultation with your teacher, depending on availability.
  • Your place remains valid until further notice and can be cancelled by contacting your teacher. If you have borrowed an instrument, it must be returned immediately when your place ends. Instrument rental fees are charged after three completed lessons.
  • If a student is ill or unable to attend for any other reason, it is important to inform the teacher.
