Step-by-step guide

1. What does School of arts offer?
The School of Arts in Boden Municipality offers free lessons in music, theatre/drama, and dance, mainly during school hours in schools across the municipality. For orchestra, dance/drama groups, or choir, some evening classes are held at Björknäsgymnasiet.
There are also preparatory music lessons for children in grades 2 and 3.
2. From which grade can you apply?
- Instruments/Music: Admission is mainly from grades 4–9. Subject to availability, younger students may be admitted from grade 2 for certain instruments such as violin, cello, flute, recorder, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, and French horn.
- Drama: Applications can be submitted from grade 3; admission is from grade 4, subject to availability.
- Dance: Same as drama – apply from grade 3, admission from grade 4.
- Singing: Applications are accepted in grade 5; admission is from grade 6 and upwards.
3. Application process in Speedadmin
- Go to Speedadmin.
- Choose focus:
- Single subject: instrument/vocals, dance, or drama.
- Or two subjects: instrument/vocals + dance, or instrument/vocals + drama. (You cannot choose two instruments.)
- Add to cart and set your priority if you have chosen more than one subject.
- Log in with BankID for the student/guardian.
- Enter the responsible guardian.
- Submit the application.
When the application is submitted, the date becomes your queue date.
If admitted, a teacher will contact you with a time and place for lessons.
4. After the application is submitted
- All lessons are free of charge.
- Instruments can be rented for a small fee if available.
- Course changes can be made in consultation with your teacher, depending on availability.
- Your place remains valid until further notice and is terminated when the guardian contacts the teacher. If an instrument has been borrowed, it must be returned immediately. A fee may be charged if at least three lessons have already taken place.
- If the student becomes ill or needs to be absent for other reasons, it is important to notify the teacher.
5. Course options
- Instruments (such as violin): Apply from grade 3 for admission from grade 4 upwards. Some instruments may accept students from grade 2.
- Singing: Apply in grade 5, admission from grade 6.
- Dance or Drama: Apply from grade 3, admission from grade 4.
