1. How to apply for SFI in Boden
1.1 Contact Lärcentrum
Visit Sandenskolan in central Boden or contact Lärcentrum by phone or email. You can also book a digital meeting.
1.2 Register your interest
Get in touch with a study and career counselor at Lärcentrum and let them know that you want to study SFI.
1.3 Prepare documents
Bring any previous certificates or documents that show your educational background.
1.4 Placement interview
After registration, you will be called to an interview where your background and study habits are assessed. At this stage, your course start and study format are also decided.
1.5 Choose study format
Decide whether you want to study full-time, in the evenings, or online.
1.6 Start your studies
The waiting time is usually a few weeks, but no longer than three months.
2. Who can study SFI?
You have the right to study SFI from the year you turn 16, if you lack basic knowledge of Swedish and hold a valid residence permit.
3. Study paths and courses
SFI is organized into three study paths:
- SFI 1: Courses A–D for students with little or no prior schooling.
- SFI 2: Courses B–D with a slower or normal study pace.
- SFI 3: Courses C–D with a faster pace for students with good study experience.
4. Placement and waiting time
- Once you’ve registered your interest, you will be called to a placement interview.
- The waiting time is normally a few weeks, at most three months.
5. Study formats
- Full-time
- Evening classes
- Online (distance learning)
6. New initiative: “Speak Swedish with practice”
Combines theoretical Swedish lessons with practical training.
- Study Path 1, courses A/B
- 50% SFI and 50% practice over 48 weeks
7. Additional support via adult education
Lärcentrum also offers basic and upper secondary courses, vocational training, exam services, and study and career guidance.
8. New arrivals and civic introduction
- JobbCenter helps with government contacts, education applications, and integration.
- The Establishment Program provides support and civic orientation for two years, with SFI as a central part.
