Step-by-step guide
Please note that all forms and digital applications (e-services) are currently in Swedish. Contact Citizen Service if you need help in English.
1. FIRST, FIND OUT WHAT APPLIES
- Marketplace spots are available at Centrumtorget (five spots) and Pumptorget (three spots).
- A permit from the Police Authority is not required if you sell at a spot designated by the municipality for market trading.
- Other uses of public space, such as concerts or outdoor dining, often require a permit from the Police Authority and a statement from the municipality.
2. USE THE E-SERVICE “MARKETPLACE SPOT BOOKING”
Booking is done through the municipality’s e-service for marketplace spot booking, which requires login with electronic identification.
The service consists of three steps:
- Book a marketplace spot
- Preview your application
- Submit the application
3. FILL IN THE REQUIRED INFORMATION
When completing the booking, you need to provide:
- Name, address, email address, and phone number
- Which marketplace spot you prefer (Centrumtorget or Pumptorget)
- Whether you need electricity
- From and to dates
- What you plan to sell or do at the spot
4. MARKET TRADING HOURS
The approved hours for sales are:
- Monday to Friday (non-holiday weekdays): 10:00 – 18:00
- Day before a public holiday: 10:00 – 15:00
You may set up goods one hour before trading starts and must leave within one hour after the end time. The marketplace spot must always be cleaned after use.
5. KEY MANAGEMENT
- Keys are picked up and returned at Citizen Service in the Town Hall, Kyrkgatan 24.
- If the Town Hall is closed, the key can be droped off in the mail slot when you are done.
- Keys not returned, or booked marketplace spots not used, may result in charges.
6. ADDITIONAL PERMITS
- If your activity at the marketplace spot involves anything beyond market trading – for example serving, food sales, construction, or outdoor dining – additional permits may be required, such as from the Environmental and Building Committee or the alcohol licensing authority.
- The municipality has the right to reject applications for police permits to use public space.
