Step-by-step guide
Please note that all forms and digital applications (e-services) are currently in Swedish. Contact Citizen Service if you need help in English.
1. UNDERSTAND THE MUNICIPALITY’S CRISIS PREPAREDNESS AND STRUCTURE
1.1 The municipality’s responsibility and crisis organization
- Boden Municipality is responsible for ensuring that elderly care, water supply, rescue services, schools, and other essential functions continue to operate even in a crisis.
- There is a Central Crisis Management Group (CKL) and, in the case of extraordinary events, a Crisis Management Committee consisting of the Municipal Executive Committee’s working committee.
1.2 Risk and Vulnerability Analysis (RSA)
- Each electoral term, an RSA is prepared to identify potential threats and enable planning, training, and exercises.
- It is coordinated by the Department of Democracy, Communication and Security (DKS) and covers everything from technical infrastructure to information security and natural disasters.
2. INFORMATION CHANNELS TO FOLLOW IN A CRISIS
- Official crisis information from the municipality – boden.se is updated with advice and situation reports during major societal disruptions.
- SOS Alarm – 113 13 – call to receive or provide information during crises.
- VMA (Important Public Announcement) – outdoor alarm signal, radio/TV, and sometimes SMS are used during major events. When the signal is given: tune in to Sveriges Radio P4.
- Other municipal channels – Citizen Service (by phone), the official Facebook page, and the Boden app.
- Alternative sources of information during communication outages – notice boards, schools, sports halls, and more.
3. WHAT YOU CAN DO AT HOME – YOUR EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
- At least one week of self-sufficiency with food, water, and heating is essential – especially during power outages or societal disruptions.
- Consider barriers such as lack of electricity, water, communication, and transportation.
- Tips for supplies: long-lasting ingredients (for example canned goods, dry foods), a camping stove, cash, and a battery-powered radio.
- The MSB brochure “If Crisis or War Comes” is a practical tool with clear guidance.
4. LOCAL SAFETY POINTS AND COOPERATION
- Safety points have been established in Unbyn/Avan, Gunnarsbyn, and Harads as meeting places for support during societal disruptions.
- Here you can get a warm drink, children’s activities, counseling support, charge your phone, receive clothing, first aid, information, and more.
- The initiative also aims to be established in the urban area, in cooperation with civil society and local associations.
