Safer crossings
Intersections where cyclists meet car traffic are among the most common places for accidents. Boden is therefore redesigning unsafe crossings and entry points, for example by raising crossings, improving sightlines for cyclists, and adding clearer markings. This makes it easier for both drivers and cyclists to share the road and reduces the risk of accidents.
Safe school routes
Parents should feel confident when children cycle to school. New cycle paths and crossings are being built where safe alternatives are missing today. The goal is that children can travel independently and safely to school, leisure activities, and friends. A safe school route reduces the need for car rides and ensures that more children get daily physical activity, which supports their health.
Lighting and signage
Clear signs and good lighting are vital for traffic safety. Boden is improving signage along cycle routes to make it easier to navigate, even for newcomers to the municipality. More streetlights are also being installed along vulnerable routes to increase safety, especially during the long winter months when daylight is limited.
Winter cycling
Cycling in Boden should work all year round. That is why cycle paths and walkways are cleared before car roads. This allows more people to choose cycling even in winter. Roads are also treated against ice, and snow clearing is prioritized on routes where many cycle to workplaces, schools, or public transport. This makes the bike a reliable option even during the long winter season.
