Playground plan
Many of Boden’s playgrounds are old and need renovation. The Parks Department has a long-term plan to improve their quality and create playgrounds with high play value, in line with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Priorities
- New playgrounds will first be built in areas with the highest number of children aged 1–12 years.
- Next, neighborhood playgrounds and family meeting places will be established in each district.
- The long-term goal is that every district will have at least one larger playground and family meeting place, making Boden more attractive for families with children.
- When new neighborhood playgrounds are built, several smaller playgrounds with low play value will be phased out.
All priorities depend on needs and budget.
How the playgrounds are maintained
The Parks Department is responsible for the maintenance and development of public playgrounds. The work includes:
- Inspection once a week
- Function check once a month
- Safety inspection once a year
- Repairs and maintenance when needed
- Construction of new playgrounds
