Playground plan
Many playgrounds in Boden are old and in need of renovation. To address this, the Parks Department has developed a long-term plan to improve their standard and create playgrounds with high play value, in line with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Priorities
- Priority is given to upgrading neighbourhood playgrounds in each district.
- The goal is for every neighbourhood to have a larger gathering place for children and families, making Boden a more attractive place for families with children.
- As new neighbourhood playgrounds are built, a number of smaller playgrounds with low play value will be removed.
Priorities are based on need, available budget, the condition of existing play equipment, and the number of children aged 1–12 living within the playground's catchment area.
How the playgrounds are maintained
The Parks Department is responsible for the maintenance and development of public playgrounds. The work includes:
- Inspection once a week
- Function check once a month
- Safety inspection once a year
- Repairs and maintenance when needed
- Construction of new playgrounds
