Prevent slippery conditions

We want everyone to be able to get around safely in winter. That is why we prevent slippery conditions on roads, sidewalks, and bike paths, and offer free sand and gravel.

How We Prevent Slippery Conditions

When it becomes icy, we prioritize the busiest areas first to reduce the risk of accidents:

  • Roads with heavy traffic.
  • Sidewalks and bike paths.
  • Bus stops.

We then continue with other streets. We use sand and gravel instead of salt to make the roads safer.

Free Sand and Gravel for Property Owners

If you own property, you can pick up free sand and gravel to reduce slipperiness on walkways near your property. Locations include:

  • Boden: Smidesvägen 3, at the entrance outside the fence.
  • Brännberg: At the old sawmill.
  • Gunnarsbyn: At the recycling center.
  • Harads: Bergvägen 1, at the recycling center.
  • Lakaträsk: About 100 meters from the recycling station.
  • Unbyn: At the gas station.

Please bring your own buckets when collecting sand or gravel.

Your Responsibility as a Property Owner

As a property owner, you are responsible for keeping the walkways around your property safe. By sanding or gritting, you reduce the risk of falls and accidents.
