Parking today
How parking works
A parking disc is used in central Boden. Road signs show the rules. Where an area parking ban applies, you may not park. If you do not have a parking disc, write the time you parked on a piece of paper and place it clearly visible in the windscreen.
Map and space types
There are several public car parks in the centre. There are also spaces for people with reduced mobility.
Supervision and responsibility
The municipality does not handle parking cases. Questions about paying a parking ticket are handled by the Swedish Transport Agency. Questions about or appeals of a parking ticket are handled by the Police Authority. Questions about a control fee are handled by the parking company that issued the fee.
Public transport
Local buses in Boden run regularly every day. The municipality works with the regional operator to develop travel within, to and from the municipality.
Rules and charges
Parking ticket and control fee
If you park incorrectly, you can receive a parking ticket on public street land or a control fee on private land.
Fee levels for illegal parking
Level 1: 700 kronor for stopping or parking bans where the accident risk is high.
Level 2: 550 kronor where parking is prohibited under local traffic regulations.
Level 3: 350 kronor if a parking disc, ticket or permit is missing, not visible or if you exceed the allowed time.
On a space reserved for people with reduced mobility without a valid permit: 1 300 kronor.
Parking for people with reduced mobility
With a valid parking permit for people with reduced mobility you may park free of charge for six hours. After that, the ordinary rate applies when the new system begins.
The difference between a parking ticket and a control fee
A parking ticket applies to illegal parking on public street land. It is issued by a municipal parking attendant or the police on a white handwritten slip. It must be paid within eight days. If you appeal, you must still pay first. Only the Police Authority can cancel a parking ticket. The municipality does not handle appeals.
A control fee applies to illegal parking on block or private land. It is issued by a parking company on behalf of the landowner, often as a long narrow slip. If you appeal, contact the company that issued the fee. Neither the municipality nor the police can assist in these cases.
Who do I contact?
For a parking ticket, contact the Police Authority. For a control fee, contact the issuing parking company. The municipality does not handle parking cases.
new parking system (decision made, not yet in effect)
Scope
The system covers 350 parking spaces on public street land in central Boden. In total there are about 1 320 spaces within roughly 800 metres of the town centre.
What will be introduced?
When the system starts, the parking disc on these 350 spaces will be replaced by payment. Payment is made by mobile application or at a permit machine with card payment.
Fees and times
The first hour will be free. After that the charge is 15 kronor per hour. On certain central spaces the charge applies immediately. Charging applies on weekdays 09.00–18.00 and Saturdays 09.00–15.00. Other times are free of charge.
Purpose and benefits
The aim is better rotation and accessibility, less search traffic, noise and exhaust fumes, and a safer and more accessible centre.
Utility parking permit
For people who need to park while working, for example home care staff and tradespeople, a utility parking permit will be introduced. The employer applies. Applies to both the public and private sectors.
