Why is lighting important?

The municipality is responsible for around 9,000 light fixtures. Lighting is important for traffic safety and for making residents feel safe. It also contributes to a pleasant environment in the community.

Energy-efficient measures

To save energy and protect the environment, the municipality has gradually replaced older lamps and fixtures with modern, more energy-efficient alternatives. The new lamps provide the same amount of light but use less energy. This work will continue until all old lighting has been replaced.

Reduced lighting in summer

During the summer months – from early May to early August – street lighting is turned off to save energy.

Reporting faults and maintenance

Boden Municipality owns the street lighting and is responsible for it. Maintenance is carried out by Boden Energi Nät. Fault reports are handled area by area and may take up to four weeks to resolve.

You can report lighting problems through the municipality’s fault reporting service – either via the e-service (guide) or by calling Citizen Services. Urgent faults should be reported directly to the switchboard at +46 921 620 00.
