What is a certificate of non-trusteeship?

The certificate of non-trusteeship is a written document confirming that you are not under trusteeship. The certificate may be required when you apply for certain jobs or assignments where it is necessary to prove that you do not have a trustee.

When may the certificate be needed?

Authorities and organisations may request the certificate, for example when you:

  • Apply for authorisation in a regulated profession (such as lawyer or real estate agent).
  • Register as the responsible publisher of a periodical.
  • Need to prove in another way that you do not have a trustee.

How to apply

You can apply in writing or by phone. You do not need to state why you are requesting the certificate. Provide the following:

  • Name
  • Personal identity number
  • Address

The Chief Guardian Unit will check that you are registered as a resident in Boden municipality. The certificate will be sent to your registered address, unless you choose to collect it at Citizen Service in the City Hall.
