What is Fixarna?
Fixarna offers simple handyman support for older people who live in their own homes. The service is provided by the municipality’s labour market and education department, and the aim is to prevent accidents and ill health.
What kind of help can you get?
Examples of tasks that Fixarna can help with include:
- Installing and checking smoke alarms.
- Changing light bulbs, fuses, batteries and lubricating door locks.
- Collecting or moving items to and from attics or storage rooms.
- Sanding and light snow clearing at entrances or balconies.
- Hanging curtains or lifting heavy objects such as furniture.
Fixarna do not carry out tasks that require professional tradespeople (such as electrical or plumbing work), gardening, full snow shovelling, window cleaning or services that are normally part of home care.
Cost
The service is free of charge if the task takes no longer than 30 minutes. If it takes longer, the cost is 75 SEK per started hour. Payment is made by invoice.
