Health and medical care services

The social welfare committee is the care provider and is responsible for services for people over 18 years of age. These are provided by nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and assistant nurses with delegated tasks. Care is provided in the municipality’s residential facilities, day activities, social psychiatry and in people’s homes.

The responsibility includes care, treatment, medication management, rehabilitation, documentation and reporting of injuries.

MAS and MAR

The Medical Officer for Patient Safety (MAS) is responsible for quality and safety in healthcare. The Medical Officer for Rehabilitation (MAR) is responsible for rehabilitation, assistive devices and coordination.

Medical services are the responsibility of Region Norrbotten.

Home healthcare

When can you receive home healthcare?

Home healthcare is available for people over 18 years of age who, due to illness or disability, cannot get to a health centre by themselves or with the help of relatives.

What support can you receive?

Home healthcare is available around the clock, all year round. You can receive help with:

  • medication management,
  • wound care,
  • blood tests,
  • rehabilitation and habilitation,
  • adapting your home environment and providing certificates for housing adaptations,
  • end-of-life care.

Planning and discharge

Before home healthcare begins, a coordinated individual care plan (SIP) is drawn up together with the municipality and Region Norrbotten. You and your relatives will be involved.

When the need for home healthcare ends, you will be discharged, but you can apply again if it becomes relevant.

Contact

How to reach healthcare:

  • In residential facilities, a nurse is available during the daytime Monday–Friday.
  • In the evenings, on weekends and at night, a nurse is always on call.
  • As a home healthcare patient, you receive a phone number for the nurse when you are admitted.
  • For medical advice, you can call 1177.

Costs for home healthcare

Municipal health and medical care services are subject to a fee. The fee depends on whether you are registered for home healthcare and on the services you receive. Current fees can be found in the municipality’s information about care and support charges.
