At ISB, we value not only academic growth but also meaningful opportunities for students to engage with and contribute to the local community, supporting their holistic development.
Service as Action (SAA) in the MYP and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) in the DP are essential parts of our programmes. They help connect students with local businesses and charitable organisations in Boden, encouraging real-world learning experiences that benefit the community. These projects also invite students to explore global issues and work towards positive change, fostering international-mindedness, social responsibility, and lifelong skills.
Sustainability is a priority in Boden, and we integrate the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals into our community-based projects.
Students also take part in key personal projects: the PYP Exhibition, the MYP Personal Project, and the DP Extended Essay—all designed to celebrate individual creativity while developing skills in planning and execution.
At the International School of Boden (ISB), we understand the importance of maintaining a child’s native language while they learn English and Swedish. Our Mother Tongue Education program supports students in developing their first language, helping them stay connected to their cultural roots and become confident multilingual learners.
The program is available from grade 1 (PYP 1) and offers classes in several languages, based on demand. If five or more students request the same language, we do our best to arrange qualified teachers—native or near-native speakers—for high-quality, culturally aware instruction. Classes are held during the school day and include reading, writing, speaking, and cultural elements.
Parental involvement is encouraged through regular communication and meetings. ISB also celebrates its students' diverse backgrounds through cultural events, creating a school community built on respect and global understanding.
