Kvarnängen – the city’s outdoor hub
Kvarnängen is a central outdoor area close to town, ideal for both exercise and recreation in every season.
The municipal outdoor gym, Nordgymmet, is located here and offers full-body workout equipment, including stations designed for balance and seniors.
You can play beach volleyball, beach handball, or try disc golf on the nine-hole course with marked tees.
There are also barbecue spots and large green areas suitable for picnics, play, and spontaneous activities.
In winter, the area features a sledding hill, a skating rink, and ski trails that connect to the Pagla trail system.
Gruvberget – outdoor recreation with a view
Gruvberget is a central outdoor recreation area with a long tradition and activities for all seasons.
- The area features a downhill slope and a sledding hill, as well as several barbecue spots with beautiful views.
- A 2.5 km trail starts at Gruvbergsstugan. In winter, it is used for skiing; in summer, for running, walking, or cycling.
- There is also a 183-meter asphalt pump track for bicycles, inline skating, and scooters, open to both beginners and experienced riders.
- In addition, there are mountain bike trails of varying difficulty, and the area is continuously developed with new trails and activities.
Pagla – sports and exercise close to town
Pagla is an outdoor recreation area close to the city offering a wide range of activities for recreation and exercise all year round.
- There are eight trails ranging from 1.4 km to 15 km. In winter, they are for skiing, while in summer they are used for running and walking. Some trails are lit and free of charge.
- Dogs are allowed on certain trails for training if leashed with a stretchable line and if the skier wears skis. Regular dog walking is not allowed on the trails.
- The area also has two downhill slopes (about 250 m and 50 m) with lifts, a sledding hill, several barbecue spots, shelters, and a warming hut with showers and changing rooms.
