What is a political committee?
A political committee is a group of elected representatives responsible for different parts of the municipality’s work.
The Municipal Council decides which committees exist and what issues they handle. Each committee has a chairperson and members appointed by the Municipal Council.
Committees make decisions within their area and ensure that the goals and frameworks decided by the Council are followed. They also work to develop local services and make sure they function properly.
How the committees work
Committees meet regularly to discuss issues that affect everyday life, such as schools, elderly care, community planning and culture.
Their decisions are documented in official minutes that are available to the public.
Committees are also responsible for monitoring their work and reporting results back to the Municipal Council.
The role of municipal officials
Each committee is supported by municipal officials who prepare reports, investigate matters and carry out decisions. Elected representatives make the decisions, while officials ensure that they are implemented.
Your opportunity to influence
As a resident, you can access committee minutes and decisions. You can also contact elected representatives directly to share your views.
By voting in the municipal election every four years, you influence which politicians serve on the committees.
