About the school

The school has roughly 150 pupils in Years F–6. The main building includes classrooms, group rooms, a library and a music room. In separate buildings there are a dining hall and a sports hall.

The spacious school yard offers many activities: play barn, playground with climbing frames and swings, street-hockey courts, basketball court, football pitch, open grass areas, an ice rink and snow hills.

Located in the middle of the village, with easy access to both water and forest, the school uses the outdoors as part of learning. The after-school programme has two units: Björnidet and Björngrottan.

Food and meals

Meals are served in the school’s dining hall (separate building).

Wellbeing and partnership

We work for a safe school environment where every pupil is seen. This includes value-based work, joint activities and clear routines to prevent and deal with incidents.

Pedagogy and approach

Profile: Nature – health – movement. Nearby nature is part of teaching. We aim for wellbeing “in body and mind” and use many senses in learning. Goals are reached through cooperation, community and engaging activities. Guiding words are community and joy.

Pre-primary class

We aim to spark the desire to learn and build confidence. Through play, creativity and outdoor time, pupils can influence and see their learning and are smoothly prepared for Year 1.

Pupils work at their own pace without performance demands. The school yard offers varied environments; summer and winter sheds provide play materials. Staff are always on duty during breaks, and morning breaks include activities led by an after-school teacher.

After-school programme

Two units:

  • Björnidet (pre-primary & Year 1)
  • Björngrottan (Year 2 and up)

We mix guided and free activities and base the programme on pupils’ age, maturity, needs and interests, with strong emphasis on play, movement, social interaction and creativity. Much of the programme is outdoors on the school yard or in the local area.

Breakfast before school; snack after school. Weeks 27–31: closed; pupils are referred to summer provision (for guardians who work). Information is sent during the spring term.
